Sage and Stone brings a rich background including a degree in Sustainable Design, studies in Zoology, project management, and avid birdwatching. Sage and Stone believes volunteering is important, which is why our team volunteers with Casa Latina regularly, has spent time as the volunteer coordinator of La Hesperia in Ecuador, and will continue to give back to our community.

Continuing education is vital to our company’s growth, and so we have trained under a master mason, become a Certified Master Soil Builder, and taken sustainable treehouse building courses.

About Us

Sage and Stone is a small Seattle-based landscaping company started by Gabe Shulman and Travis Parent.

As a true design-build company, the same hands that you shake at the table also hold the tools that sculpt your yard and the paintbrushes that translate your yard's potential onto paper. We specialize in edible and native plantings set amidst high quality hardscapes.

Through reuse of materials, soil building, and water-wise plantings, we believe that the five acres of gardens that we, and you, help to create each year does make an extraordinary environmental difference. We believe in furthering education so that our company continues to grow and give back to the community which has helped us to create this successful company. Our work is classy, creative, and comfortable. It is as traditional or as artistic as you desire. Above all else, it is enduring.

Why Edible?
edible

Edible gardens can be low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and beautiful. While food you grow will be fresher than from the farmer's market, your landscape will subtly encourage healthy, nutritious, and sustainable habits for your family.

Why Native?
native

NW Native plants thrive in our climate without requiring watering, herbicides and pesticides. They are low-maintenance, edible, medicinal, and often sold as highly prized ornamentals. Finally, native flora provides habitat for native birds and butterflies.

Why Artistic?
artistic

We are artists who create functional gardens with thoughtful touches that distinguish our work from others. With so much time spent on-site, we learn the intricacies of each garden, ensuring that all the elements of the landscape flow, functionally and aesthetically.
